vonH23rz combines digital self-determination with practical experience. From a first homelab and growing hobby projects to private solutions and the digital infrastructure of a small business, the goal is to create solutions that are understandable, deliberately built, reliably operated and remain under your control for the long term. But what comes together in vonH23rz today began long before the first homelab.
WHO IS BEHIND VONH23RZ?
vonH23rz wasn’t born behind a desk.
From a single machine to highly complex production lines.
My career began as a Service Engineer in the solar and semiconductor industries. For many years, my work took me to production sites around the world. I started by working directly on individual machines and equipment, and later took responsibility for teams, processes and increasingly complex technical systems.
Over time, the scale grew too. Work on individual machines developed into projects involving fully automated production lines. The job changed with it. Control systems, robotics, measurement and control technology, production data, traceability and Virtual Commissioning all had to work together reliably. Project volumes reached into the hundreds of millions.
The common thread never changed: understanding how systems work together and what it takes to keep them reliable, understandable and manageable.
With my own homelab, I increasingly applied that same way of thinking to digital infrastructure, networks, storage, security, data and self-hosted services. The environment changed, but the fundamental questions remained surprisingly similar: Where are the dependencies? Who is in control? What happens to the data? And how do you build systems so that they remain understandable and manageable over the long term?
vonH23rz grew out of that combination of practical experience, technical curiosity and the desire for greater digital self-determination.

vonH23rz looks at digital systems as a whole. Devices, applications, networks, data, security, backups and documentation all form part of the same foundation. A good solution should fit the actual need, remain understandable and be able to evolve over time.
